Departmental Exam for promoting to Assistant Manager. It is a great
opportunity to promote to Grade B officer in RBI after three years even
though you entered as an Assistant.

Practice several times:
To get good marks in Reasoning and Numerical ability sections, you need to practice more and more. Everyone may solve the problems but who finds it quickly is important. Practicing several times enhances your ability and quickness to study a problem and understand it. You can become familiar with various models of problems in every chapter when you practice vigorously.
Solving more previous papers with friends helps you to analyse the problem easily. Almost all types of questions or models can be seen in different bank exam question papers. If you practice many previous and model papers, you will be familiar with various shortcuts and solution methods.

Reasoning - 35 to 40 minutes
Numerical ability: 45-50 minutes

Numerical Ability: Simplifications, Number System, Problems on Numbers, L.C.M and H.C.F, Average, Ratio and Proportion, Time and Work, Boats & Streams, Age Relations, Percentages, Partnership, Simple Interest, Compound Interest, Allegation and Mixture, Pipes and Cisterns, Volume – Surface & Area, Surds and Indices, Geometry and Data Interpretation.
Books only may not boost your Awareness
General Awareness syllabus is vast. But previous papers help you to find out topics to be prepared. Most of the bank exams have the questions which are related to banking industry and current affairs. Along with your books reading news papers, magazines and business editorials on particular issues from English papers is helpful. It is useful in both the way as you can be familiar with the various developments in Banking Industry and English vocabulary & grammar. The topics banking history, nationalization of banks, various schemes of banks, banking and finance terminology, Indian financial system, Reserve Bank of India, current events and technological developments in banking are to be prepared thoroughly.
Time to spend on this section: 10 to 12 minutes.
Reading English Content Improves your Knowledge
You should be familiar with the English grammar rules. You can meet this by reading and practicing one standard grammar book. As said above, you all need to read English newspapers daily. They are the treasury of grammar and vocabulary. All topics like Parts of Speech, Prepositions, Articles, Tenses, Antonyms, Synonyms, Voices, Speeches, Degree of comparisons, Idioms and Phrases, one word substitutions, Vocabulary etc., are covered in daily news. While reading underline the important words, vocabulary and grammar and check the rules of grammar are included or not. Repeating this for some days improves your language. You have to practice various topics such as Jumbled Sentences, Spotting Errors, Test of misspelled words and Reading comprehension from earlier exam papers.

In every exam, computer awareness is included as full or part of a section to test candidate’s knowledge. It tells how important it is for a business.
